Protagonist Therapeutics is Hiring a Director, IT Near Newark, CA

Summary
We are looking for a Director, IT to oversee all IT systems, infrastructure, and operations. This individual will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.. This position will provide strategy, vision, and techno-functional leadership to deliver innovative technology solutions and services within the Protagonist Therapeutics organization. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on, results-oriented leader who can build strong cross-functional relationships, multi-task, and drive the successful completion of IT initiatives from beginning to end. Though broad technical expertise is required, this position plays a critical role in being able to bridge the technical/business gap by articulating highly technical concepts in business terms.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with business leaders to understand their needs and assess best fit technology solutions in support of business requirements.
  • Working within IT, lead the technical delivery of solutions approved within the IT portfolio around infrastructure investments (Servers, Systems Software, Cloud Infrastructure, Cloud Backup Services, and related security).
  • Develop, plan, and implement a robust information security program and roadmap for the organization.
  • Manage various security and IT vendors; third party risk management, new services, contracts, and renewals.
  • Manage external resources, project financials and delivery of IT systems.
  • Review, develop and enhance existing information technology policies.
  • Prepare, monitor, and manage the annual department budget to ensure expenditure is in line with the business plan.
  • Drive culture of continuous improvement to improve quality, efficiencies, and standards across the infrastructure organization.
  • Evolve IT Strategy and Roadmap, aligning them with the budget and governance process.
  • Partner with the QA, Compliance and Finance organizations to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare system configuration and deployment cost estimates, budgets, and schedules.
  • Lead and facilitate the evaluation and recommendation of new technologies or capabilities that can be applied across the business.
  • Provide architectural guidance and oversight across projects and technology platforms, ensures guiding principles and technology standards are followed, and leads the Change Management review meetings.
  • Educate and advise management team of industry and technology trends.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 10-12 years’ work experience, including at least 3 years in a managerial/leadership role.
  • Broad IT management experience, with emphasis on Life Sciences-related systems delivery required.
  • Experience with the use of SDLC methodologies in project delivery required.
  • Understanding of SOX and GxP controls, experience in an FDA-regulated environment is required.
  • Experience working with Veeva Vault applications (QualityDocs, Training) is preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite and Coupa is preferred.
  • Ability to work directly with business partners and end users to generate consensus around technical directions.
  • Ability to analyze complex business problems and evaluate solutions.
  • Ability to translate complex technical issues into business terms.
  • Ability to drive multiple projects in a dynamic environment
  • Contributes to setting the overall IT department agenda and operating practicesExcellent interpersonal, communication, and business partnering skills.
  • Superior organization, planning, and project management skills.
  • Strategic mindset with strong analytical foundation.
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Ability to facilitate and resolve conflicts at both the senior and staff level.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required, MBA or equivalent work experience desired.
The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $200,000 and $240,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
Protagonist Therapeutics is a biopharmaceutical company with peptide-based new chemical entities rusfertide and JNJ-2113 (formerly PN-235) in advanced stages of clinical development, both derived from the Company's proprietary technology platform. Rusfertide, a mimetic of the natural hormone hepcidin, is the Company's lead drug candidate currently in a global Phase 3 stage of development. The REVIVE study is now complete, with an open-label extension underway. The global Phase 3 VERIFY study of rusfertide in polycythemia vera is ongoing. Protagonist retains all worldwide development and commercialization rights to rusfertide.
